Mexico is the first world producer of mexican lime (Citrus aurantifolia. Swingle). Lime fruits are highly demanded
due their quality characteristics but are highly perishable too. Fruits shelf life is about 10-15 days under ambient
conditions, changing color and swelling. Objective of this work was to evaluate different films for waxing (Mezquite
gum, candelilla, mineral oil and emulsifiers) and storage temperatures on the fruit quality characteristics (Weight
loss, color, juice content, titratable acidity, total soluble solids and incidence of chilling injury). Waxing with mesquite
gum and the mixture of candelilla wax plus mineral oil (proportion 1:1) combined with storage temperatures at 7
and 10C decreased the physiological weight loss and the incidence of chilling injury.
